Quentin Tarantino Confirms Retirement After Two More Films

Nearly 15 years ago, an unknown director by the name of Quentin Tarantino quietly released his first film, Reservoir Dogs. Two years, later Tarantino burst onto the scene with Pulp Fiction where his unique way of storytelling and dependence on engaging dialogue made him one of the rising stars in Hollywood. Since then, Tarantino has released six movies (although Kill Bill was released as two parts), with some of his bigger films just coming out over the past few years.

Throughout his career, Tarantino has put his name firmly in the conversation to be one of the best directors that the movie industry has ever seen. Unlike most directors however, Tarantino has a very specific plan for his career, which he once again confirmed will be ending after two more movies.

Tarantino was recently present at an Adobe Max conference in Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center where he discussed the impending end to his film career. THR was on hand to gather his responses throughout the event, and when he was asked about retiring from directing after two more films his response was, “Drop the mic. Boom. Tell everybody, ‘Match that shit.’” As long as his final two films are at the same level of his previous films, it will definitely be tough for most people to match his efforts. He is hoping that his filmography will mean he is one of the best of all time.

Hopefully, the way I define success when I finish my career is that I’m considered one of the greatest filmmakers that ever lived. And going further, a great artist, not just filmmaker.

Quentin Tarantino Confirms Retirement After Two More Films

It is difficult to imagine a scenario where Tarantino’s final two films would hurt his reputation among film lovers, so he appears to have a good shot at achieving this goal. He has long been praised for his previous work, instantly making both of his final movies some of the more intriguing projects in the works.

It is unfortunate that Tarantino is deciding to step away from directing after 10 films, but this has been his plan for sometime. He has previously discussed this possibility, and later reiterated these plans just earlier this year. He appears to have his mind made up, which means audiences will have to savor the remaining two films’ releases. Concrete plans for either of his upcoming films have not yet been officially revealed, but there are plenty of options out there – although him being swayed by the Deadpool 2 petition is not likely one. Whatever he ends up producing for his final two movies are surely going to be original ideas with the same unique style he has incorporated over the years, but now everyone can know for certain that these will be his final two movies.
