The Saber-Toothed Tiger Zord – piloted by Trini the Yellow Ranger (Becky Gomez), who can be glimpsed in the vehicle’s cockpit – is the Zord featured most prominently in the poster above. The Tyrannosaurus Rex and Pterodactyl Zords are also partially visible here, though their respective pilots (Dacre Montogomery as Jason the Red Ranger and Naomi Scott as Kimberly the Pink Ranger) are not. Based on what can be seen here though, the designs of the Zords in the Power Rangers movie are pretty close to their corresponding toy counterparts (in terms of overall aesthetic). So much should also hold true for the Mastodon and Triceratops Zords in the background here, piloted by Zack the Black Ranger (Ludi Lin) and Billy the Blue Ranger (RJ Cyler).
On a different, but relevant note: this new Power Rangers poster also finalizes the writing credits for the film, after Max Landis (Chronicle) initially received credit for his unused pitch for the reboot. Project Almanac helmsman Dean Israelite is now – officially speaking – drawing from a screenplay written by John Gatins (Real Steel), based on the screen story that was assembled by screenwriting duo Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama (Gods of Egypt), as well as Kieran and Michelle Mulroney (Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows). Hopefully, these five writers have managed to put together a cohesive mythology and narrative, to go with the shiny new designs for the Rangers’ costumes and gadgets in the film.
