LEGO Batman Movie Posters: Gotham’s Finest Heroes & Villains

The LEGO Movie was, perhaps, a movie success story that surprised us all. Let’s face it, any full-length feature film made entirely from LEGO was always going to be worth a look, but The LEGO Movie was not only brilliantly animated but also thoroughly enjoyable, delivering catchy songs, one liners, and of course, some great characters. Batman, voiced by Will Arnett, was undoubtedly one of them. Egotistical, self-centred, unintentionally hilarious and determined to fight for justice while looking suave, Batman brought lots of laughs to what was already a great movie, and is thoroughly deserving of his own film, The LEGO Batman Movie, set to be released in February, 2017.

Arnett returns to his role as LEGO Batman for the upcoming film spinoff, with Zach Galifianakis also onboard as the Joker, Michael Cera as Robin, Jenny Slate as Harley Quinn, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, and Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth. Ahead of the movie’s release, The LEGO Batman Movie have now gotten several new character posters, courtesy of Warner Bros. Animation.

The LEGO Batman Movie tells the story of what happens when Batman is forced to face up to the responsibility of looking after Robin, whom he accidentally adopted (when he thought he was being sarcastic). To add to his problems, the Joker is gathering all of Gotham’s criminal minds to wreak havoc across the city, and Batgirl aka Barbara Gordon is taking the city by storm and wants to work with Batman to keep Gotham safe…only that’s the worst idea Batman’s ever heard. You can check out posters for all of these characters (and more), below.

Produced by The LEGO Movie writers and directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, The LEGO Batman Movie was written by Seth-Grahame Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), Chris McKenna (Community) and Erik Sommers (American Dad!), and directed by Chris McKay (the animation co-director/supervisor on The LEGO Movie).

As shown in previous trailers, there are no limits to the number of DC references throughout the movie, including Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face and an appearance from the Justice League. There are also multiple references to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. In fact, Lord and Miller have described the movie as “a 90 minute DC Easter Egg,” so there will be plenty to dissect once the movie is in theaters. However, its primary purpose will be to entertain, and from the previously-released trailers, it looks like The LEGO Batman Movie will do just that. For those who didn’t enjoy Batman V Superman, The LEGO Batman Movie might even be the perfect antidote.
