The 2014 summer blockbuster season is behind us, with the major Hollywood studios now focusing on the fall prestige releases and awards campaigns. However, this fall still has some exciting tentpoles in store, not the least of which is Christopher Nolan’s eagerly-anticipated space epic, Interstellar.
Nolan’s sci-fi film follows Matthew McConaughey as a pilot who has to leave his family and travel through a wormhole to a distant part of the cosmos in a desperate attempt to save Earth, which is rapidly becoming inhospitable. And while we recently learned that the film’s running time will be just under three hours, there is still a completely-intentional shroud of mystery surrounding the film.
A new report sheds light on another eagerly-awaited tentpole release: according to Russian website FilmPro (via CBM), the first trailer for 2015’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron will run before Interstellar when the latter film is released on November 7th.
The announcement was made by Warner Bros. Russia during an expo showcasing the studios releases for Q4 of 2014, which begs the question of whether or not this news will be confirmed by Warner Bros. and Disney/Marvel stateside anytime soon.
With director Joss Whedon’s superhero all-star sequel now in post-production and the official synopsis released, fans have been waiting for some kind of glimpse of the semi-finished product. Given the May 2015 release date for The Avengers 2, a November bow of the trailer seems about right.
The idea that we could see our first proper trailer for Age of Ultron in theaters as soon as November is exciting, but with trailers routinely finding their way online well before they debut in theaters, it is entirely possible that we could see the footage sometime in late October.
That is, unless Disney/Marvel and Warner Bros. have no intention of releasing the Age of Ultron trailer with Interstellar in North America. It’s unclear whether or not this Russian announcement will be followed by something official for the United States. We’ll have to wait and see.
What remains indisputable, however, is the fact that when we finally do see the trailer for The Avengers 2, it will be an event. Expect something official from the studio soon enough.
