If Tudyk ever has the opportunity to join the MCU, the Guardians franchise is a perfect fit. Not only has he previously worked with Gunn twice before and is a pal of his, but his versatility, charisma, and sense of humor would appear to fit in nicely with the established group of characters. And obviously, Tudyk’s been down a similar path with another Marvel writer-director Joss Whedon’s Firefly and Serenity where he played a lovable starship pilot.
As for future Guardians of the Galaxy 3 villains – The team has so far battled the power hungry Ronan and next summer will face the mysterious Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) and more Raveagers before eventually joining forces with the Avengers to battle Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.
Taking the team back into the deep cosmos in Phase 4 and throwing in Tudyk is something we can get behind. And so can James Gunn himself who responded to the idea on Twitter by saying, “Alan Tudyk is my friend and I’m always on the lookout for ways to work with him again! Our first two team ups are masterpieces!”
A third installment in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has not yet been officially announced, but all signs point to it happening, with or without Gunn, as one of the leading movies in Phase 4, but any announcements about a release date, story, or Gunn’s return are months if not years away from being made. Since Tudyk continues to be so involved with Disney, it should only be a matter of time before he lands a role either big or small in the MCU, and with his desire now public, fans will have to wait and see if this will pan out.
